BOISE -- A judge heard hours of testimony Monday in an alleged murder-for-hire case in Boise.
Last May, 27-year-old Travontae Calloway and 28-year-old Elliot Bailey were shot and killed inside a home on the Bench.
Prosecutors say the two men were targeted because they stole 30 pounds of marijuana.
Today, witnesses were questioned during a preliminary hearing for both the man accused of ordering the murders and the man accused of carrying them out.
Testimony started at 10 o'clock in the morning and wrapped up about 5:30 p.m.
We heard from several key witnesses in this case, including Travontae Calloway's girlfriend who was also shot the night of the murders.
Defense attorneys tried to point out that since the shooting, her story has changed.
Calloway's girlfriend started crying when describing what happened the night of May 8th.
She testified a man she met while working on a marijuana farm in California busted into the home she shared with Calloway and started shooting.
He's been identified as 44-year-old John Douglas. Douglas was arrested in Pennsylvania last year.
He's charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
Prosecutors say the only reason the Pennsylvania man came to Idaho was to kill Calloway and Bailey.
The case revolves around 30 pounds of marijuana that prosecutors say the two friends stole.
"It's important and it's significant if drugs are stolen, or if you're robbed or lost or what not to make sure that it's taken care of, otherwise there could be some repercussions physically to you, correct?" asked defense attorney Jack McMahon.
"Correct," replied Anton Raider.
Central to the case is the testimony of Anton Raider.
He lived with Anthony Robins, the man prosecutors say put a hit out on Calloway and Bailey because of the stolen weed. It went missing after Robins sent it to Raider for safekeeping in Boise.
"He brought all that heat to me, he ruined my business and he ruined my freedom," testified Raider.
Later, Douglas' defense attorney questioned Calloway's girlfriend -- asking about earlier statements she made to police.
He says she originally told investigators she had never seen the gunman before.
"And then you said something at that point in time in your narrative here, it was Russ and another male 'she had never seen before'," said McMahon.
Robins' attorney continued to question Calloway's girlfriend's credibility.
"Had you ever seen this guy with the gun before? Your answer under oath, yes and no. He looked familiar, but I'm not too sure really who," said defense attorney Brian McMonagle.
Prosecutors then asked Calloway's girlfriend again -- who shot at you? Calloway and Bailey?
The woman pointed at John Douglas.
A judge decided to move the case forward. Douglas and Robins are scheduled to appear in Ada County court again on April 2.
