BOISE, Idaho — A new elementary school has been dedicated in Boise.
The ribbon-cutting for Whittier Elementary's new building took place Thursday afternoon.
It's 68,000 square feet with two stories -- featuring 25 classrooms for kindergarten through sixth grade, as well as a preschool classroom, library, gym, cafeteria, and music room.
The project was funded through the Boise School District bond that voters approved in 2017.
"We have been waiting for a really long time. We've gone through a lot of challenges during the construction process, but it has all been worth it," said Principal Fernanda Brendefur.
A portion of the old Whittier school building is being retained and remodeled for a new community center.
