List of employers hiring during the coronavirus pandemic

Thousands of people have lot their jobs because of the coronavirus outbreak. But some major employers are looking to hire during this difficult time.

BOISE, Idaho — Editor's note: The above video looks at how to file for unemployment benefits. 

As bars and restaurants across Idaho shut down to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, more and more people are being put out of work. However, some big companies like Walmart, Amazon, Albertsons and Fred Meyer are looking to hire workers to keep up with demand during the pandemic.

We've begun to compile a list of employers that are hiring right now. Here are some of them:

Albertsons 

Albertsons is hiring in-store employees and workers. According to their website, the grocery chain had 98 openings in Idaho as of Thursday. Some of the positions included grocery clerks, delivery drivers, warehouse clerk and driver, meat cutters, cake decorators and numerous managerial jobs. There were 70 jobs available within 20 miles of Boise.

Employees are eligible to receive benefits, and paid vacation time and holidays.

Applications are being accepted on the Albertsons website.

Amazon

According to our sister station KING 5 in Seattle, Amazon announced changes to its supply chain amidst a sharp increase in online orders. Shipping on non-essential items will be prioritized lower than items like food and cleaning supplies and the company is currently in the process of hiring 100,000 delivery drivers, warehouse workers and grocery shoppers. The average pay is $17 an hour through April. Employees do receive benefits.

Ambitions of Idaho 

Ambitions of Idaho offers in-home care for adults with developmental disabilities, and is currently hiring. Applicants are asked to apply in person at the office, located at 1026 W Sanetta St, Nampa, ID 83651. The office doors are locked but applicants can knock and will be let in to apply and interview. 

Bedside X-Ray Service, Inc.

Qualified X-Ray technologists are encouraged to apply for a couple of open positions at Boise-based Bedside X-Ray Services. Inc. They provide mobile x-Ray and EKG services in the Treasure Valley. Email owner, Jeff Underwood, at jeff@bedsidexray.com, to apply.

CVS

On March 23, CVS announced plans to fill 50,000 full-time, part-time and temporary roles across the country.

The positions include store associates, home delivery drivers, distribution center employees, and member/customer service professionals.

Dollar Tree

Dollar Tree is hiring 25,000 employees to support its stores and warehouses during the coronavirus pandemic.

Domino's Pizza

According to CNBC, Domino's Pizza is hiring 100,000 workers in response to coronavirus. Jobs include delivery drivers and restaurant managers.

Food delivery

Along with the increase in online shopping and restaurant take-out, there is a need for delivery drivers to bring goods to customers. Many of these services now offer no-contact deliveries to comply with social distancing measures. Food delivery services like DoorDash are hiring contractors to pick up and deliver food. Other services include Postmates, UberEats, and GrubHub.

Fred Meyer

Fred Meyer plans to hire hundreds of new employees over the next several weeks in Idaho and other Northwest communities.

Open roles are available in their retail stores, manufacturing plants and distribution centers with an average hourly wage of $15 per hour.

H.A.S. Inc.

H.A.S. Inc., an adult care business, is hiring 15-20 direct care paraprofessionals in Boise, Meridian, and Nampa. The jobs are for those who can care for adults with developmental and mental disabilities who need assistance. The job applications can be found here for Meridian, Nampa, and Boise. The positions are full-time or part-time with health benefits for full-time workers. The wages start at $10 per hour.

Idahoan Foods

Idaho Falls-based Idahoan Foods is currently hiring more than 125 people for the company's three manufacturing plants in Rupert, Lewisville, and Idaho Falls, according to a company official. Jobs available are primarily machine operators, forklift drivers, maintenance and automation technicians, packaging, sanitation, and quality control associates. Candidates can apply here

Inclusion & Inclusion South Inc.

Inclusion & Inclusion South Inc., have positions available in their Treasure Valley, Magic Valley, and North Idaho offices. They are looking to hire full and part-time workers. They provide support services to adults with developmental disabilities to promote independent living. Magic Valley applicants can apply online here, or call 208-736-7117. Lactalis American Group

The cheese factory in Nampa is actively hiring for a variety of positions. There are currently over 40 positions posted on their career website.

RCF Commercial Cleaning

RCF Commercial Cleaning President Christina Freer says the company continues to get requests for disinfection services, and are now hiring to help cover the extra workload. "We continue to clean our clients' offices even though most have closed, in order to prepare for the workforce to return to a clean & healthy environment," she said. "Cleaning is very much essential in the fight against this nasty virus." Candidates can contact the company here.

SL Start Idaho

SL Start Idaho, an organization that offers support to adults with developmental disabilities, is currently hiring. SL Start offers various hours and shifts, including morning, evening, graveyard, full-time, part-time and on-call. Candidates can apply here.

U.S. Postal Service

The Postal Service has experienced an enormous surge in parcel volume in recent weeks. And is looking for some hard working men and women to stand and deliver.

Many jobs are waiting to be filled, including temporary and jobs that lead to long-term careers. Temporary positions currently available are Temporary Carrier Assistants ($17.29 per hour), Clerk Assistants, and Mail Processing Assistants (both $17.95 per hour).

Valor Global

Valor Global, based in Phoenix, Arizona, recently acquired ProService Boise, a call center located in Meridian. They are looking to hire 300 people in the Boise area fo fill full-time, work-at-home, call center positions beginning within the next few weeks. Walgreens

According to the company’s website, Walgreens said it was looking to fill roughly 9,500 existing full and part-time roles in stores across the U.S.

The primary roles they’re looking to fill include customer service associates (CSAs), pharmacy technicians and shift leads.

Walmart

Walmart’s President and CEO John Furner announced last week that the retail giant is looking to hire more than 150,000 hourly associates in the U.S. through the end of May to work in stores, clubs, distribution centers and fulfillment centers.

The new roles are temporary at first but may convert to permanent roles over time.

To quickly hire these individuals, Walmart will temporarily reduce its usual two-week application cycle to be just 24 hours.

WinCo Foods 

WinCo Foods is hiring cashiers, janitors and workers for their deli and bakery.
