BOISE — West Nile virus activity is moving east. It's now been detected in Ada County.

The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District confirmed today the first case of West Nile here.

They say two pools of mosquitoes tested positive for the virus.

The positive detections came from mosquitoes trapped in Garden City near West Riverside Drive and Lakemont Lane, and also in east Boise near Bown Crossing and Parkcenter Way.

The abatement district has increased treatments in those areas in an effort to prevent human cases.

Health officials announced last week that a Canyon County man fell ill with the first case of the West Nile virus in Idaho this year. He has since recovered.
