Idaho's First Nurse Anesthesia Degree Program

Pending accreditation, Idaho State University will have the first cohort begin at the Meridian location in Fall 2025.

MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Idaho State University's School of Nursing is offering the first nurse anesthesia degree (CRNA) program in Idaho.

If the accreditation is granted by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, the first cohort starts in the Fall of 2025 at the the ISU Meridian campus.

For more information the school is having an information and question and answering session at the at Idaho State University's School of Nursing in Meridian on Tuesday, July 9 from 6 - 7:30 p.m.

The proposed program is three years. Graduates "receive a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) degree and be eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam to become a CRNA. They will be prepared to provide a full range of anesthesia services to meet the growing needs of Idaho's diverse population and remedy the critical anesthesia shortage in the region," a release stated.
