The ribbon cutting for the new Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Nampa took place Wednesday afternoon.
The hospital is located off of Garrity Boulevard and Interstate 84. Idaho Lt. Governor Brad Little was at the ceremony, as well as those responsible for the four-year project coming to completion.
The new campus focuses on not only physical needs of patients but also their emotional needs. It starts when you enter the hospital. Local artwork graces the walls, including seven vertical metal sections in a glass wall sculpture that symbolizes a healing environment.
You can also find healing gardens, water features and private reflective areas.
Of course, state-of-the-art medical care is the focus of the medical center, but Saint Alphonsus leaders say studies show a hospital's design impacts medical outcomes.
"How you feel and your attitude really changes how quickly you recover, and so that's one of the big pieces of this facility," said Karl Keeler, president and CEO, Saint Alphonsus Nampa. "We want you to feel like you want to heal and get better and that's really the environment we've tried to instill in this facility."
The list of services the new campus will offer is far to long to list, but includes breast, cancer, urgent, critical and emergency care. It will be open on Monday, June 19. There will be an open public house on Saturday, June 17, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. For more information click here.
