CALDWELL -- West Valley Medical Center hosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration Wednesday for its new $3 million cardiac catheterization lab.
It's the first of its kind in Canyon County.
The hospital expanded its previous catheterization room from just over 1,000 square feet to 6,000 square feet.
"I think what this expansion represents is a chance for us to provide life-saving heart procedures locally for the people in the community," said interventional cardiologist Lyndon Box.
The new equipment can test electrical activity of the heart to find where an arrhythmia is coming from. These results can help determine whether medication, a pacemaker, or cardiac surgery is needed.
