BONNER COUNTY, Idaho – New evidence has emerged in the investigation of a Clark Fork murder from last December.
Detectives found fingerprints in the home of George Andres, who was found shot to death in his home on the 1200 block of Mountain View Road.
Investigators said it appeared he interrupted a burglary.
His death was the second murder in less than a year in the eastern part of the county, and investigators said there are some similarities to the April 2017 murder of Shirley Ramey. Ramey was found shot to death inside her home off Highway 200 near Hope.
Neither case currently have any suspects, Bonner County Sheriff’s Office Detective Phil Stella said, but he confirmed they did have people of interest in both shootings.
“No one that would qualify as a suspect,” he explained. “We’re trying to either determine if they are linked or not linked.”
Stella said they are dealing with the cases from two different angles: waiting to hear back from forensics on evidence testing and following up on new leads locally.
“We get new leads almost weekly,” he said.
Neighbors on Thursday remembered Andres as a kind soul.
“He was really good hearted,” said Evelyn Anderson. “He would do anything for anybody.”
Anderson, a longtime friend of the victim, was the one who found Andres dead in his home in a rural area outside of Clark Fork.
“He used to go to the library . He tutored a few kids in town,” Anderson said. “Just wanted to make sure they knew how to read.”
Ramey’s husband, Daryl, spoke with KREM 2 in April, just about one year since he found her dead in their home.
“Everybody misses her,” Daryl said at the time. “It’s hard to believe, you know. It’s been a year now. Just hope something comes of this.”
Anderson, among others in Bonner County, said they remain on edge.
“I hope they find who done it,” she said.
