Benson said the pilot was able to get out of the plane on their own but suffered burns. Treasure Valley Paramedics tended to the injured pilot, who is "receiving medical treatment."
Officials said the fire has been extinguished.
The runway is closed to allow the Ontario Police Department, which is coordinating with the Ontario Oregon Fire & Rescue, to investigate the cause of the crash.
