ACHD 'Name a Plow' voting opens

The seasonal event allows community members to vote and decide the name of a snowplow. There are names such as "IC/DC" and "Scoop Dogg."

BOISE, Idaho — Voting has started for the Ada County Highway District's 2024 Name a Plow contest.

ACHD said it has received more than 1,000 creative name submissions but has narrowed it down to 100. These include Austin Powers, the Idaho Steelsled and Scoop Dog.

Community members will be allowed to vote for their three favorite names to be given to three ACHD snowplows for the 2024 winter season. Officials said a fourth truck would also be named in their own internal contest.

This is the second year of the Name a Plow contest, and if a submitter's name is chosen, they will win a $100 gift card.

2023's winner's names and the name they selected for the plow are included below:

  • Mike Walsh, Boise State Associate Athletic Director - Ashton Jeanty
  • Trevin Meredith, from Eagle - Snotato
  • Christina Straub, from Meridian  - CTRL+SALT+DELETE
  • Josh Crill, ACHD Project Inspector - The Big Leplowski

Voting ends on Oct. 25. For further information, visit ACHD's website here.
