Meet Mac Holly, the 11-year-old fantasy football expert

Mac's love for the game kicked off as he watched his dad and then in 2020 it punted into a love for fantasy football.

BOISE, Idaho — 21 years ago, the KTVB sports team introduced Idaho sports fans to a 17-year-old NFL inspiration.

Andy Benoit was a Boise teenager who wanted a closer connection to the National Football League than just playing Madden with his friends.

We labeled him in our archives as the NFL kid.

In 2003, the then high-school-senior had just written his seventh book, but it was the first one to be published, about the upcoming NFL season, the league, the games, and the players.

Books that had been read by John Madden himself!

After graduating from the College of Idaho, Andy went on to turn his teenage passion into a career in the NFL and most recently as an assistant to the LA Rams head coach.

The question today, could we have another prodigy, even younger that's following in Andy's footsteps?

Mac Holly at just 11 years old hand crafted his very own 2024 fantasy football guide.

"This one took a long time," Mac Holly said. "Trades and additions, it's for new players on new teams and see if they are going to have a better season with a new team."

"For months on end he was going day in and day out with it," said Mac's dad, Tyler Holly.

Mac's love for the game kicked off as he watched his dad and then in 2020 it punted into a love for fantasy football.

"I was like I got to watch my teams, they are doing good, so i would watch them even more," said Mac.

Mac said he built the playbook for his family, charging about 4 dollars per guide to pay for ink.

Once people heard about it, people at school, his cousins, and some people he didn't know were asking to get their hands on it.

"Yeah, I made about 80 dollars this summer from making this book," said Mac.

Mac's dad, Tyler, said to be good at fantasy football, it takes dedication.

"When football rolls around, he's the first one on the couch ready to go," said Tyler Holly. "The fantasy shows are up, he's got his little Ipad going, he's making moves on who to start, he's looking out for all the other family members."

It seems like his guide isn't a bad one to follow this season either.

When we asked how his fantasy team is doing this year, he said they are going pretty well.

"Oh yeah, I am going to win," said Mac.

His dad agrees and now he is getting beat by his own son.

"The sad thing is, he beats me and he's a lot better at it than I am there is no doubt about it," said Tyler.

Mac said he doesn't plan to stop making guides any time soon.

He is even working on a podcast with his cousin and is looking at making this a career in the future.

"I also would love to be an NFL announcer so I could go to the games and announce them," Mac said. "I'd love doing that."

His advice for anyone needing help picking their teams is to pick the player positions with fewer greats.

If there is not a lot of good running backs, pick your top running backs first and if there is a lot of great wide receivers, pick those later on for better luck.

Mac is also planning to meet up with Andy Benoit soon to meet him and lean on a great local mentorship.
