BOISE, Idaho — Before the primary election last May, KTVB took viewers inside a meeting organized by a national non-profit who is trying to depolarize America.
Braver Angels hosted a Red-Blue workshop in Boise that brought together both sides of the political spectrum. Red, republican, and blue, democratic, members of the community shared their beliefs and reasoning behind divisive topics to see if they could find common ground in a diplomatic way.
In April, a group of roughly 20 people worked together to have tough conversations in the workshop.
But what happens when it's a smaller group? Let's say, one-on-one. The 208 found out.
The 208 brought together a real estate agent and an owner of a bathroom remodeling company. They both were coming from the same side of the aisle, but they weren't exactly sitting in the same row when it comes to a certain topic: immigration. While both men shared their points, they differed nonetheless.
But what's important is, they were having a real discussion. They patiently listened to each other, and found out, they agreed on a lot more than they disagreed on.
