Boise OG publishes 'Surviving Camel's Back' board game, a window into Boise's past

The vibrant colors and quirky gameplay promises a trip down memory lane in Boise's Camel's Back Park.

BOISE, Idaho — Have you ever wanted to relive the excitement of your childhood in Boise? Well, time machines are still in the works, but a Boise company has another, more tangible option.

The company Boise OG calls themselves a lighthearted, sometimes sarcastic company that highlights and celebrates Boise’s unique lifestyle and history. They said they are in business to preserve, poke fun at and celebrate the things, people and businesses that make Boise so great.

You have likely seen their popular stickers and apparel around town. Their latest hit is a board game called “Surviving Camel’s Back.”

“A true OG remembers when playgrounds were more about survival than recreation. With splintered wood, sun scorched metal, and pitch-black slides on a steep hill, Camel’s Back Park had something for everyone,” said Boise OG creator Kelly Knopp.

The board game is easy to learn and features iconic imagery tied to Boise’s famous Camel’s Back Park.

“Players show off their survival skills as they hike back to the playground of the good old days in this sprightly and nostalgic board game filled with sharp-witted artwork,  safety hazards, and plenty of "Youchies." The player that enters and exits Camel's Back with the least amount of "Youchies" wins,” Knopp said.

The game is for 2-4 players and is designed to be played by Boiseans young and tenured.

Knopp teased an expansion to the game that will be aimed at an older audience and more mature references in the playing cards than what comes in the box.
