Six cats died in a fire Monday night.

GARDEN CITY -- Six cats perished when a fire broke out at a Garden City mobile home late Monday night.

According to Boise Fire, the blaze began at about 11:25 p.m. on North Adams Street.

The two people inside were able to escape the burning trailer with their dogs, but were unable to get the cats out.

Fire crews responded and doused the flames. The firefighters tried to revive the cats with rescue breathing but were not able to save them.

It's unclear whether the home will be a total loss. Portions of the inside appear charred, and a pile of possessions and debris is piled on the ground outside the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but investigators say it appears to have started accidentally.
