Update: Polecat Gulch fire stopped, containment lines established and 'mop-up' started

The Bureau of Land Management said crews will be on the scene throughout the day. The fire was mapped at 36 acres.

BOISE, Idaho — Boise Fire and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) were able to extinguish a vegetation fire near Polecat Gulch in the foothills by Collister Drive. The fire started on June 21, it was mapped at 36 acres.

According to BLM, the fire was out on Saturday and crews were cleaning up the area.

"We are pleased to report that the estimated time for fire control is projected at 1800 hours, with successful containment achieved at 2300 hours the previous evening," BLM stated on social media

At 7:51 p.m., on Friday evening, forward progress of the 40-acre fire stopped, and crews are securing containment lines and mopping up hotspots. The fire was expected to be controlled by Saturday, June 22, at 6 p.m.

On Friday June 21 at 5:31 p.m., the fire was about four acres, and crews were working to clear the trails near Polecat Gulch.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
