BOISE, Idaho — Traffic delays are expected near St. Luke's Boise Medical Center as construction crews work on the roadway and traffic signals on Thursday, April 11 and Friday, April 12.
Crews will be restriping the road and updating traffic signals and signage to reflect the one-block closure of Jefferson Street between Avenue B and First Street, according to a representative for St. Luke's.
The two-day project is expected to last approximately six hours, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
Entry to the medical center will remain open and accessible from Avenue B. The medical center and Emergency Department will remain accessible from Idaho Street.
St. Luke's said flaggers will assist in conducting the flow of traffic. However, drivers should expect delays.
The construction is part of a multi-year project expanding and upgrading the St. Luke's Boise campus. Plans for the project include the construction of a multi-story tower and a medical office plaza.
The new hospital tower will be constructed north of the existing hospital between Avenue B and 1st Street. The tower will have two stories underground and nine stories above ground - which is one story shorter than the existing St. Luke's tower, which will remain, St. Luke's said.
The new medical office plaza will be constructed to integrate into the new tower. The plaza will connect over 1st Street to the new patient parking garage built in 2021.
