NAMPA, Idaho — "I don't want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need," all Nampa wants is a Yuletide tree.

The city of Nampa is looking for the annual Christmas tree that decorates downtown. Residents can donate their 40 foot or taller spruce or pine tree to the city and thereby have boasting rights until next Christmas.

People willing to donate need to call 208-468-5890, the deadline is Friday, Sept. 27.

Requirements for the donation are that the tree has to be accessible from a roadway and free of utility lines and obstructions, located within city limits and easily accessed by the main city roads. Additionally, the ideal tree for the job is straight, full and pleasantly shaped.

If your tree is chosen by the City Forester, it will be removed (stump and all), transported and decorated by the city for free. The tree lighting is on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at 6 p.m.
