Angler hooks trout worth $1,000

Brian Gailey was doing some fishing near Hagerman and hooked a jaw-tagged trout sponsored by Idaho Power.
Idaho Power releases thousands of trout into the Snake River each year. Some are fitted with jaw tags like this one that helps the company gather information about where the fish are caught.

BOISE -- A Magic Valley angler hooked a thousand bucks on one of his recent fishing trips.

Brian Gailey of Wendell won a jaw-tagged trout drawing sponsored by Idaho Power.

Gailey and his pastor were doing some fishing downstream from Owsley Bridge near Hagerman.

He says the $1,000 prize will help pay for a steelhead fishing trip on the Salmon River.

Each year, Idaho Power stocks trout in the Mid-Snake River at locations from C.J. Strike Reservoir east to Centennial Park near Twin Falls.

Some of the fish released previously have jaw tags that can earn anglers a chance at $1,000 by calling this number: 1-800-388-6011.
