Ballet Idaho to open season with 'Anthology' performances

One of the performances commemorates the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote in Idaho.

BOISE, Idaho — Ballet Idaho opens its season on Friday, Nov. 1 with a series of short stories. But with "Anthology," those stories are told through dance.

KTVB's Larry Gebert spoke with artistic director Garret Anderson, who said the program is a change of pace for Ballet Idaho.

"It's a little bit different format," Anderson said. "We have six short pieces, kind of a collection of short stories, if you will. They're really not tied thematically; Some are narrative, some are more abstract. I think the concept is really to show the breadth of both the choreography and the artist performing the work."

One of the performances, titled "So To Speak," commemorates the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote in Idaho, and portrays both the private and public struggles women faced as they fought for their rights.

The performances will take place Friday through Sunday at the Boise State University Special Events Center. Tickets start at $35. For more information or to purchase tickets visit the Ballet Idaho website.
