BOISE, Idaho — The Boise Fire Department (BFD) rescued three people trapped in an elevator on Wednesday.

BFD said, around 8 p.m., their crews responded to an elevator rescue in a downtown Boise business. Three people had been trapped in the elevator that had stopped between the first and third floors.

The elevator was in a blind shaft, meaning there was no second-floor access. BFD said their Tech Rescue Team secured the elevator from moving using special blocks bolted to the elevator rails.

After the elevator was secure, rescue crews in harnesses climbed down to the top of the elevator. The three people were secured with harnesses and ropes and then were lifted from the top hatch.

Everyone was safely brought out, BFD said.
