OROFINO, Idaho — Idaho State Police (ISP) released information regarding a bicyclist versus car incident that happened on Wednesday.
According to a news release from ISP, at roughly 8 p.m. on Wednesday, a bicyclists was hit by a car in Orofino.
A 19-year-old man from Orofino was wearing dark clothing and riding his bike westbound on US Highway 12 near mile marker 42, according to police.
A 72-year-old woman from Orofino was driving westbound in a Honda Accord, when she hit the bicyclist.
After investigating, police determined that the bicyclist had failed to have adequate lighting or reflectors, and also failed to ride to the nearest edge or curb.
The bicyclist was taken to the hospital in an ambulance for serious injuries, and was also cited.
Traffic on the westbound portion of US 12 was closed for roughly 3 hours, while clearing and investigating the scene.
