Several lightning-caused fires from Monday's storm are burning around Idaho

BLM Idaho Fire has reported several lightning-caused fires starting from Monday's storm.

BRUNEAU, Idaho — BLM Idaho Fire has responded to multiple fires that started near Mountain Home and Bruneau on September 2. The Syrup, Lover, and MM60HWY51 Fires were all spotted on Sept. 2 at around 12p.m. More fires were spotted throughout the day including the Mineral Fire the Berry Fire and the Big Flat Fire. The last two fires are in a different area near Weiser. Also, the Glendale Fire was spotted near Bellevue.

On Sept. 3, BLM Idaho Fire updated their Facebook post saying they worked through the night to contain all of the fires in the area. 

These fires are all lightning-caused due to a storm front that moved through the area.

Mineral Fire: Sept. 3

The Mineral Fire is located about 20 miles to the northwest of Weiser. The fire is estimated to have spread to more than 20,000 acres at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. Dozers and crews are working to knock down fire spread but no control time or date has been provided. Steep terrain has made it difficult for crews to fight this fire.

Berry Fire: Sept. 3

The Berry Fire is located about 25 miles northeast of King Hill. The Fire is estimated to be more than 1,300 acres. This fire has no estimated control date. The fire is in difficult terrain so aircrafts were called in to help fight the fire.

Bigflat Fire: Sept. 3

The Bigflat Fire is located about 25 miles northeast of Weiser. It was estimated to be more than 2,500 acres at 12 p.m. Tuesday. Fire crews said the moisture overnight helped them strengthen containment lines. There is no estimated containment line yet for this fire. 

Triple Fire: Sept. 3

The Triple Fire was spotted about 15 miles southeast of Bruneau. It spread to an estimated 442 acres. It was contained and controlled on Sept. 2.

MM60HWY51 Fire: Sept. 3

The fire was located about 10 miles southeast of Bruneau right next to mile marker 60 on Highway 51. It was mapped at about 10 acres. This fire was contained by 1 p.m.

Syrup Fire: Sept. 3

The Syrup Fire is located about 8 miles northwest of Mountain Home. At 11 a.m. on Sept. 2, the fire was estimated to have spread more than 400 acres but on Sept. 3 the size was estimated to be at 5,129 acres. The fire is estimated to be contained by 12p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Lover Fire: Sept. 3

The Lover Fire is located about 6 miles to the east of Bruneau. The fire was estimated to have spread to more than 200 acres. The fire was contained and controlled on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
