BOISE - Fire restrictions in the Bureau of Land Management's Vale District will be lifted starting Monday, the agency announced.
The restrictions, which prohibited activities like campfires, smoking outside of vehicles, and chainsaw use were in effect throughout most of the summer on public lands managed by the Vale District.
Reduced fire risk prompted BLM managers to recind the restrictions. But they warned people to continue to use good judgement when practicing fire safety.
"It's gotten cooler and we've had some precipitation, but fires can start any time of year," said Don Gonzalez, BLM Vale District manager. "It's important to remember we still have large fires burning in the region, and we're still technically in fire season."
