MALHEUR COUNTY, Ore. - A California man missing for several weeks was found dead in Malheur County, Ore., on Saturday.

Sheriff Brian Wolfe said 69-year-old Si Wrigley's truck and fifth wheel were found in a remote part of the Owyhee Desert on a rough road.

The Chico man had planned to go on an extended fishing trip, but he did not show up to relatives' homes when they expected him.

A number of resources from several counties began to search for Wrigley. After more than a week of looking, crews found Wrigley dead on Aug. 30.

Wolfe said there are two roads with the same name in the area Wrigley was found, and he said Wrigley likely missed a turn in trying to go to Lake Owyhee.

"It appears he missed the turnoff for that destination and then his GPS took him on to a road that's not maintained. (It's a) really rough road, rocky road, and then he slid off and got stuck. He couldn't move his vehicle," said Wolfe.

The sheriff said it appeared Wrigley tried to walk to help but did not make it. Wolfe said the truck was found 20 to 30 miles south of Adrian, Ore.
