BOISE, Idaho — Bogus Basin is set to begin daily operations on Friday, Dec. 8, with the mountain expecting up to 15 inches of fresh snow during the upcoming weekend.
The nonprofit on Wednesday announced plans to open nine runs and a terrain park off five lifts, including a pair of conveyor lifts. Bogus Basin said it received 17 inches from a storm last week, and it hopes to open additional terrain if snowy conditions continue.
Starting Friday, operating hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. As Bogus works to open new terrain, lift tickets remain discounted. Discounts for reloading tickets won't go into effect until they are full price.
The Deer Point Express Chairlift, Morning Star Express Chairlift, Coach Chairlift, Easy Rider Conveyor Lift and Explorer Terrain Park Conveyor Lift are ready to roll Friday as the 2023-2024 winter season gets underway.
“While we await more natural snowfall, it is exciting to see our snowmaking system and mountain staff in full force," said Nate Shake, the director of mountain operations. "Providing winter recreation to the community regardless of early season natural snowfall was the plan, and we are realizing that vision like never before.”
Bogus Basin said the Explorer Terrain Park opens this weekend, along with the terrain listed below:
- Showcase - Blue
- Stewart's Bowl - Blue
- Upper Ridge - Blue
- Lower Ridge - Blue
- Alpine - Blue
- Coach's Corner - Green
- Silver Queen - Green
- Bogus Creek - Green
- Pioneer Trail - Green

No uphill access will be permitted as the mountain prepares for the full season, the announcement said. Bogus releases day ticket inventories at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays. Tickets will be available to buy at the Downtown Sales Office and J.R. Simplot Lodge Mountain Ticket Office, if any remain.
Bogus Basin's J.R. Simplot Lodge is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with full food and beverage service.
