BOISE, Idaho — Bogus Basin announced Wednesday they will open two more chairlifts and will start offering night skiing.
According to a news release, Bogus Basin will begin night skiing on Dec. 15, and a portion of the mountain will remain open until 10 p.m. Officials will also expand skiers' access to the mountain on Dec. 16 by starting the Pine Creek Express and Superior Express chairlifts.
For skiers hitting the slopes at night, Bogus Basin said, "Guests will enjoy improved visibility and coverage on the Showcase and Alpine runs, where lights were replaced over the summer." They said more than 200 acres will be lit during the night.
With the two lifts opening Sunday, Bogus said they will have eight operating ski lifts and explained skiers will expand access to the back of the mountain. The expanded access comes at a time when Mother Nature hasn't been on their side, but the community assisted them in making this year possible.
"Our community came together to generously donate the funds to install snowmaking technology at Bogus Basin," they said. "That investment has paid off, helping jumpstart early season operations as we await more natural snowfall.
Bogus Basin also said they know skiers are eager to hit the new trails, but they should use caution and stay on groomed terrain.
