BOISE, Idaho — The Boise Airport (BOI) broke ground on a new rental car facility on Tuesday, Feb. 27, in hopes of keeping up with travel demands.
Officials with the airport said in a news release that the new rent-a-car facility would relocate all current rent-a-car companies to one place, which will be within walking distance of the Boise Airport terminal.
BOI said it has seen an 82% increase in passenger traffic in the last decade, so the facility will help with the increased demand. The airport also had the busiest year on record in 2023 with a total of 4.75 million passengers.
"We've experienced tremendous growth, and we're trying to make sure that we keep Boise Airport convenient for the traveling public," Boise Airport Director Rebecca Hupp said.
The building's construction will be split into two parts, BOI said. The first phase will be the construction of a seven-level parking garage with 980 parking spots and the building housing all the rent-a-car companies.
The second part will create a quick-turn area for companies, including a carwash, maintenance garage and fueling.
