BOISE, Idaho — Avid golfers who hit the 'T' at Boise's Warm Springs Golf Course can look down the fairway as officials break ground on a new facility coming to the green.
The City of Boise on Thursday morning held a ceremonial groundbreaking of the new Warm Springs Grill + Golf facility. Officials stated the building will feature a new restaurant, an event space and a pro golf shop. Outside, the building will have increased parking and a covered patio.
"This golf course, located just minutes from downtown and a variety of Boise neighborhoods, is an important part of our city’s history and recreational offerings,” said Boise Mayor Lauren McLean.
While crews build the new facility, golfers can continue playing on the course but will be routed around the closed area. Officials said guests would be able to use the Boise River Greenbelt but urge those who use it to slow down as the public also uses the path.
According to the city, they received a $3.5 million donation to help in the building's construction. The remaining costs will be covered by the City of Boise's budget and the golf course's revenue.
"This project is the realization of decades of hard work, planning, partnership and advocacy from Warm Springs golfers and association members,” added Boise Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway. “Soon, this incredible municipal golf course will have a state-of-the-art pro shop, event space and dining experience to match the course experience.”
Mayor McLean said the new facility is expected to open to the public in 2025 for guests to enjoy.
