BOISE, Idaho — Boise School District (BSD) alerted authorities Thursday to a threat made in a social media post, potentially addressing Boise High School as the target.
The district said in a statement Thursday, March 14 that the Boise Police Department (BPD) was "investigating a threat directed at Boise High School that was brought to our school administration's attention." School hours and operations were not impacted, as BPD advised that school continue as normal, according to BSD.
Upon further investigation, police cleared the threat, stating that the original social media post referenced "a BHS" and did not originate in Idaho. Investigators noted that the threat was similar to one made in another state Thursday morning, according to BSD.
The district said that if parents opted to keep any Boise High School students home Thursday, that the students' absence would not count against them as in accordance with Boise School District attendance policy. However, parents are required to appropriately report the absence by calling (208) 854-4274 or emailing Molly Jacobs at molly.jacobs@boiseschools.org.
