BOISE, Idaho — Update: The Ada County Coroner's Office has released the identity of the victim of the fatal stabbing.
39-year-old Gregory Schroeder, from Boise, died due to multiple sharp force injuries, the coroner said. He was declared dead in the Saint Alphonsus emergency department, after lifesaving measures were unsuccessful.
A Boise man has been arrested and charged with first degree murder. The Boise Police Department (BPD) said it arrested 35-year-old Scott Stevens after allegedly stabbing someone who later died from the injuries.
According to BPD, the stabbing happened on N. Mitchell Street, near Ustick Rd., on Friday, Oct. 4., sometime around 3:35 p.m. Police said when they got there, the victim had been stabbed, they were taken to the hospital but later died from the injuries.
The department said Stevens was on the scene and they quickly took him into custody. Also, that Stevens and the victim were living in a home together with other adults and knew each other. Further, police said two of the other people in the house tried to intervene but were stopped and threatened with a weapon by Stevens.
Police said the attack seems to be unprovoked, they also recovered the weapon used in the crime and the investigation is ongoing.
Stevens has been charged with murder in the first degree committed in perpetration of specific crimes or by use of certain weapons, and two counts of felony aggravated assault.
