BOISE -- The Ada County Coroner's Office has identified a man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting on the Boise Bench early Monday morning.
Michael K. Casper, 26, of Boise died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Police say Officer Jason Green fired at the man after Casper pointed a weapon at another officer.
Green has been placed on leave and the shooting is under investigation by the Ada County Critical Incident Task Force.
Police responded to a home on the corner of Malad Street and Gourley Place after receiving a report that Casper was breaking out a duplex's windows with a crowbar. Arriving officers said they heard Casper firing several gunshots from inside the house before allegedly pointing it at the officer.
Investigators say Casper had been shooting out into the neighborhood, striking a parked car and a house across the street.
Authorities have not said whether Casper lived at the home, however, the coroner's office lists his address as Malad Street.
