BOISE, Idaho — Jorge Lossi was sentenced to life in prison Monday for the second-degree murder of his housemate, Brian Hamblet.
Lossi, 40, repeatedly stabbed 42-year-old Hamblet at their home on South Orchard Street in Boise on Aug. 19, 2022. At the time, Lossi was on parole, according to Ada County Prosecutor's Office (ACPO).
Hamblet was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a news release, ACPO stated that Lossi has an extensive criminal history dating back to 2006. Other convictions include aggravated battery and battery on correctional officers while previously incarcerated. Officials with the prosecutor's office said that at Monday's sentencing, Judge O'Neill "believed efforts to rehabilitate the defendant had been 'exhausted.'"
Ada County District Judge Derrick O'Neill sentenced Lossi to life imprisonment with 25 years fixed. Lossi will then be eligible for parole. The defendant pled guilty in September to the murder.
"This sentence provides protection to the community, as the defendant has continually resorted to violence while incarcerated and while living in the community," said Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts. "Thank you to the Boise Police Violent Crimes Detectives whose hard work on this investigation allowed my office and the court to ensure justice was served in this case."
