BOISE, Idaho — Fall is officially here in Idaho. The temps have dropped, and frost is more visible every morning. With the colder temps, the Boise National Forest plans to burn forest debris piles in the coming weeks, announced the Forest Service.
The intent of the burning is to reduce "hazardous fuels and help protect communities from future wildfire," the Forest Service said.
All burning will be dependent on favorable weather and approval from Idaho Department of Environmental Quality or IDEQ.
The Forest Service said that there is no anticipated closures of roads or trails, but smoke will be visible across the forest, including from nearby highways and communities.
