BOISE, Idaho — A 13-year-old driver and two other minors led police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle Tuesday, before crashing into a police car in a parking lot, according to the Boise Police Department (BPD).
At approximately 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, BPD received reports of someone driving recklessly on Fairview Avenue.
BPD said that when officers responded and spotted the reckless driver, they attempted to conduct a traffic stop for speeding. However, the 13-year-old driver did not cooperate and drove away, speeding and running red traffic lights, according to police.
Police then identified that the vehicle being driven had been reported stolen and pursued the driver down Fairview Avenue and into a parking lot near Milwaukee.
While in the parking lot, officers attempted to disable the vehicle by performing the pit maneuver. The attempt was unsuccessful, and the teen then tried to leave the parking lot before crashing into a Boise Police Department vehicle.
According to BPD, officers took the 13-year-old driver into custody along with two other passengers, both minors.
Officers reported that a cart-holding structure in the parking lot was damaged. However, no injuries were reported, nor were any other vehicles damaged.
