Opening Day of the 2024 Boise River float season

The 2024 Boise River float season officially starts Thursday, with full shuttle and tube rental operations for recreationists to enjoy the famed 6-mile float.

BOISE, Idaho — Get your water tubes ready and flamingo floats inflated, because the 2024 Boise River float season officially begins Thursday. 

The 6-mile stretch of the refreshing Boise River from Barber Park to Ann Morrison Park opens to the public on June 27, according to officials with Float the Boise.

Boise Parks and Recreation, Boise Fire Department and Ada County Parks and Waterways officially announced the opening date as river water flows have dropped to safe levels for recreationists, which is below 1,200 cubic feet per second (CFS).

In preparation of opening day, the Boise Fire Dive Team conducted a final "hazard mitigation" inspections along the float route Wednesday.

Float the Boise said that shuttle busses will begin operating daily routes between Barber Park and Ann Morrison Park at noon Thursday. Barber Park tube rental services will also begin its full seasonal operations.
