Boise School District hosting community conversation on mental health

The community conversation about student mental health and suicide prevention is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at Boise High School.

BOISE, Idaho — The Boise School District is hosting a community conversation about student mental health and suicide prevention on Thursday, Nov. 30.

This conversation is tailored for adults and may not be suitable for younger audiences, the district said in a news release.

This event is focused on student mental health and suicide. The meeting will include community resources, presentations and moderated question session with local professionals. 

Dr. Gretchen Gudmundsen from the St. Luke's Children Center for Neurobehavioral Medicine, Shannon Decker, the executive director and co-founder of The Speedy Foundation, and Jason Shanks, the counseling supervisor for Boise School District, will all be in attendance to help answer questions from the community.

Thursday's event is at the Boise High School auditorium from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for attendees to grab resources.
