BOISE, Idaho — The Boise School District has reached a settlement with a former Timberline High School teacher for $400,000, according to school district documents.

As previously reported by Idaho Press and KTVB, Laura Boulton, a math teacher at Timberline, was placed on administrative leave via email on Sept. 7, 2023.

In a July 11, 2024, the Boise School District and Boulton reached a settlement agreement, with the agreement Boulton would resign from her teaching position.

The school district has agreed to pay Boulton $400,000 within 30 days of the agreement. Additionally highlighted in the agreement, was that both parties agree to not pursue any additional legal action.

The agreement also said that Boulton will be able to participate in an "executive level committee" at the Boise School District. The committee's goal is to organize and provide training to teachers on the appropriate boundaries for student-teacher relationships. That committee is set to begin within two months of the agreement date.
