BOISE, Idaho — The Boise State University has issued a statement in regard to Commencement this weekend. The university said it won't "tolerate actions that disrupt the operations and events of the university," and is asking professors to work from home if possible today and have locked some buildings.
The university said it's doing this because of recent protests across the country at college campuses related to "conflict in the Middle East."
"We are concerned and troubled by the distressing news coverage on campuses showing an escalation of violent confrontations, destruction of property, and more," wrote Dr. Marlene Tromp in a statement. "In the event of disruptions on our campus or at our Commencement ceremonies, we will make the safety of our community our top priority. We expect our campus community and its guests to peaceably follow instructions from University personnel and Boise Police Department to ensure an enjoyable and safe weekend."
The statement furthered that people deemed disruptive will be asked to stop, if they don't stop, they will be asked to leave. If they don't leave they "they will be removed and may face arrest or campus disciplinary actions."
