BOISE -- An 18-year-old driver has died from his injuries after he was seriously hurt in a collision.
The crash happened Saturday, March 24 at the intersection of Highway 21 and Lake Forest Drive.
Ada County Coroner Dotti Owens has identified the crash victim as Matthew Wright, 18, of Boise. His cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma due to a motor vehicle accident.
According to Boise Police, Wright was driving west on Highway 21 in a Honda Civic when the driver of an eastbound Ford F-350 tried to turn left from the highway onto Lake Forest Drive.
The Civic crashed into the pickup truck as it turned across the westbound lanes, police say. Wright had to be extricated from the wreckage of his car and was rushed to a local hospital.
He died from his injuries March 26.
The occupants of the pickup were not seriously injured, according to police. The collision shut down Idaho 21 in both directions for several hours.
The wreck remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed. Boise Police will forward its findings to the Ada County Prosecutor's Office once the investigation is complete.
According to a GoFundMe page set up by family and friends, Matthew was returning from Idaho City where he was working on his senior project. He was scheduled to graduate from Capitol High School in May.
A family spokesperson says Matthew was passionate about being an organ donor and because of that his death ultimately gave life to so many others. They successfully transplanted his heart, liver, kidneys, and his corneas.
