BOISE, Idaho — A Boise woman says someone shot her cat earlier this month with a .22 caliber gun.
Mele Thompson told Boise Police that her cat Hank was injured on March 4. She noticed it was limping and took it to the veterinarian. That’s when she learned the cat had been shot. Thompson reported the incident to police on March 6.
Thompson lives in southeast Boise near the intersection of Dorothy and Pennsylvania avenues.
She says someone in the neighborhood is shooting at cats. However, Boise Police spokeswoman Haley Williams say no other incidents of this type have been reported to police in that area.
Thompson says Hank underwent surgery and is now recovering at home. He suffered a shattered humerus and now has steel rods and pins to help him heal.
Thompson says she’s been left with a veterinarian bill of more than $1,200 and is asking the public for help. A donation page has been set up on Facebook. So far, about $200 has been raised.
Williams says anyone shooting at animals could face a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Boise Police Department.
