BOISE, Idaho — Boise Parks and Recreation say they have found a solution for the muddy conditions that aggravated some pet owners at Boise's newest dog park.

Crews installed loads of washed gravel at Ann Morrison's Dog Island Thursday along the pond ramps and edges of the banks. Officials say the gravel will keep dogs from churning the dirt into mud as they play and swim in the pond.

"It’s already a hit with our four-legged friends and their owners!" Boise Parks and Recreation posted on their Facebook page.

The gravel was specifically chosen in a size that will not hurt dogs' paws.

The Dog Island park opened in late July.
