BOISE, Idaho — Idaho's statehouse was among multiple state capitol buildings that received threats Wednesday morning, leading to evacuations or lockdowns across the country as law enforcement officials investigated.
According to Aaron Snell with the Idaho State Police, Idaho State Capitol staff received an email containing a "non-specific bomb threat" at 5:30 a.m. and immediately reported the threat to Idaho State Police (ISP) and the Idaho Department of Administration (DoA).
Explosive detection dogs assisted DoA troopers and state police in a thorough sweep of the Idaho State Capitol property, who cleared the threat by 7:30 a.m. and resumed standard daily operations.
"The building search concluded with no explosives found," Snell confirmed. "Fortunately, given the early hour, there was minimal impact on state employees."
Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi and Montana were among the states that evacuated statehouse offices or buildings.
No additional information has been provided surrounding the specifics about the threats, nor who may be responsible or if multiple people were involved.
