NAMPA, Idaho — A teenage boy was taken to the hospital after being struck by a minivan next to Nampa High School Thursday morning.
The collision happened at 7:40 a.m. at 12th and Colorado Avenue. According to Nampa Police, the 16-year-old Nampa High student was crossing the road in a crosswalk when he was hit.
Nampa Police Sgt. Tim Riha said the minivan's driver, a 75-year-old woman, was headed south on 12th Avenue when she hit the boy. The crosswalk is the type outfitted with flashing lights to warn drivers to stop, Riha said, and the lights were functioning when the crash happened.
The teenager was conscious and breathing when emergency crews arrived. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police say.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police, Riha said. The collision remains under investigation.
