BOISE, Idaho — Brundage Mountain Resort will be upgrading one of their lifts, the Centennial Triple, to the new Centennial Express, which will cut the ride time by more than half and increase the amount of people on the chairs.
The new chairlift, a Dopplmayr 4CLD, is "a high speed, detachable quad" according to a news release from Brundage. Construction will begin summer of 2023.
The chairlift will have a a height of 1,616 feet with a six-minute long ride, cutting the original time almost in half. It will be able to hold more people on the ride, nearly 1,800.
The original chairlift was built in 1990, expanding the Brundage terrain significantly.
"Upgrading the Centennial lift to a high-speed quad does more than just cut down the ride time," Brundage Mountain General Manager, Ken Rider, said. "The loading experience will be so much smoother – especially for families – which will make some of our best terrain infinitely more accessible."
"Having two high-speed quads in the base area gives us more flexibility and redundancy for moving people up the mountain, which is especially important on busy days and holidays, and during challenging weather conditions," Rider said.
Additional improvement projects include the construction of a new Ski Patrol facility and updates to the Ski and Ride School.
Construction to the Mountain Adventure Center portion of the new lodge will begin this fall. Brundage is also building new employee housing facilities and base area infrastructure this summer, the news release said.
