Brush fire breaks out on Highway 16 near Firebird Raceway

The fire broke out on Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. along Highway 16. The Star Fire Chief said it has burned roughly 50 acres and is not threatening structures.

BOISE, Idaho — Fire crews are working on putting out a brush fire along Highway 16 near Firebird Raceway.

The Star Fire Chief said the fire started around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday and has burned roughly 50 acres. Crews stopped the fire's forward progress and moved to Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land.

At this time, no structures are threatened, but an Ada County Spokesperson said a "Code Red" was sent to neighboring residents to inform them about the fire.

The Star Fire Chief said the BLM will be taking over fire operations.
