Bird may have caused grass fire in southeast Boise

The fire broke out early Thursday afternoon near Micron.

BOISE, Idaho — If you saw some smoke in southeast Boise Thursday that's because there was a grass fire near Micron.

The fire was reported at 1:13 p.m. near the intersection of corner of Federal Way and Gowen Road.

The Boise Fire Department says they contained the fire pretty quickly partly because it was not moving very fast.

They also say a bird may have caused the fire.

"We are not 100 percent certain that's the cause, but there was a bird under a popped breaker at a powerline, so we are fairly certain that's what caused it," said Boise Fire Captain Roy Mitchell.

No structures were threatened and there were no injuries.

Boise Fire says the fire burned about 30 acres.
