Caldwell High School's homecoming parade canceled due to recent threats against school districts

The Caldwell School District announced they were made aware of potential threats, it is canceling Friday's homecoming parade.

CALDWELL, Idaho — Caldwell High School's annual homecoming parade is canceled after recent threats to school districts.

On Thursday, the Caldwell School District announced with 'a heavy heart' they are canceling Friday's Annual Caldwell High School Homecoming Parade. The school district said they were made aware of potential threats and are currently not credible, but the cancellation was made out of precaution. 

"The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community are our top priority, and we believe this decision, though difficult, is in the best interest of all. We are working closely with the Caldwell Police Department as we continue to investigate this threat," the school district said in a news release.

Also, the school district said the school is in session tomorrow, but parents can excuse their child from class by contacting the school's attendance clerk. 

"Please continue to encourage your child, if they see or hear something of concern, to report it to a trusted adult," the school district said.

According to the news release, the homecoming may be celebrated at a later date.
