CALDWELL, Idaho — A man and his dog are safe after their house caught fire early Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out at about 4: 50 a.m. in the attic of the home, located at 18th and Main Street in Caldwell.
Fire officials say the power cut out to the man' s home, and he realized his heater had shut off and got up to check it. At that point, the man saw the fire burning on the roof.
The occupants were able to escape, but the house is damaged to the point of being uninhabitable. The roof of the home collapsed into the building, and the interior is scorched.

Firefighters are on scene mopping up the last of the flames now. The cause of the fire is unknown.
