The patrol car was unveiled during the Law Enforcement Torch Run through the Gem State ahead of the Special Olympics Idaho 2024 State Summer Games in Caldwell.

BOISE, Idaho — The Caldwell Police Department's fleet of patrol vehicles recently gained a new member honoring Special Olympics Idaho and the upcoming 2024 State Summer Games.

Police on Tuesday said the Special Olympics Idaho Law Enforcement Torch Run patrol car was unveiled on May 24 during the Caldwell leg of the five-day torch run. The department's fleet now features six specialty cars.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is a fundraiser for the Special Olympics where athletes and officers carry the Flame of Hope through the Gem State to light the path to inclusion. The flame is carried into opening ceremonies for competitions at varies levels, such as the State Summer Games and World Games.

Boise, Caldwell and Nampa were the final leg of the run, which started on May 20 through Bonners Ferry, Coeur d'Alene, Moscow and Lewiston. The LETR and Special Olympics Idaho logos are featured on the back and sides of the vehicle, along with a torch-themed CPD logo on the hood.
