CALDWELL, Idaho — The MOSAICS Public School hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday for the upcoming remodel of its band room.
The school said the original design was poorly constructed and distracted other students in other classrooms as they heard music through the walls. The new design will address the sound and will allow students to play their instruments without the sound transferring to other classrooms.
MOSAICS concentrates on STEAM, which is a school based on the teachings of, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. The school serves students from kindergarten through 8th grade and is a project and interactive based public school.
The school opened its doors in the fall of 2020, and the band program is only two years old. In the 2025 upcoming school year, school officials said they plan to implement an advanced band class.
“Music has been an instrumental part of our STEAM program here at MOSAICS these past four years, and we are excited to add this new space to enhance our students’ band experience,” Principle Anthony Haskett said in a press release.
Construction of the new band room will officially begin on July 1 and is expected to be completed on November 1.
